We Have Failed Our Girls

I was a chaperone at a high school dance this past weekend. I watched in dismay as our girls performed lap dances. They danced like only they knew how; like they were having sex. At first I was traumatized   but after I went to church I repented not just for myself but for all the women, all of us who are older and wiser.

We have failed our daughters because we have allowed them to believe they can live like us, do what we do, wear what we wear, talk like we talk, listen to the music that we listen to and dance like some of us do.....some of us dance as if we are having sex.

We have failed because we did not and do not protect them for the reality shows, the videos on You tube that teach you how to twerk, the music that tells 'Bands will make her dance....' we did not protect them.

There is a woman reading this right now who watches her daughter get dressed in clothing that is too short, too tight, too revealing for her age but still you allow her to wear it...as a matter of fact you bought this outfit for her.

You are failing your daughter.

Your daughter may look ready but she is not ready to wear a pair of shorts that show her camel toe. Why isn't she ready you may ask. She isn't ready because she is a girl.

Give your girl a chance to be a girl. When she is a young woman then change accordingly.

I witnessed an eighth grade girl give a boy a lap dance while he was laying down on his back on a stage. I watched a seventh grade boy pump a girl by holding her hips while he was standing behind her. I watched twelve and thirteen year olds bend over and touch their toes as soon as a song started. This is what we have taught them.

You may be thinking that no, not me I don't dance this way, certainly not in front of my daughter but does your daughter have a television in her room with access to cable tv? Does your daughter have a computer in the privacy of her own room? Does she have an ipad or a smart phone to watch, receive or send messages at will? Do you have conversations in front of your daughter with your girlfriends? Do you wear clothing too tight and revealing? Do you buy clothes that look like your clothes for your daughter? Does your daughter spend time with a godmother or aunt who listens to 100 Jamz while your daughter is in the car? Does your little girl know the words to songs meant for your listening ears? Is your camel toe showing when you get dressed?

Take a moment.....what message are you communicating to your daughter by what you do?

Your daughter, any girl you come in contact with is watching you.

Today I was invited to speak to these same girls. I was asked to explain how to dress and carry themselves. Imagine if every woman our girls saw was a woman impeccably dressed. Imagine if we spoke honorably, we displayed etiquette. I would not need to speak at a seminar because our girls would have appropriate behavior modeled for them.

We have failed our girls.

WE HAVE FAILED OUR GIRLS!!!!!!

Until I blog again,

FITNESS: "HAVE YOU LOST WEIGHT?"

To hear the words, "Have you lost weight?" has to be some of the sweetest words to hit your ear. LOL.  For me it sends me into mutiple cartwheels and backflips with a smile from ear to ear.

Last year, I worked out real hard.  Everyday I was at it.  Jogging for 30 minutes at first and then increasing my distances.  I lost about 17lbs. Such a great feeling!! And then....daylight savings time invited itself into my life and the exercising stopped.  And we all know what that means...the pounds started creeping back on and we were heading into the Christmas holidays!  What a disaster!  I didn't gain all of the pounds back but enough to make me go "WTH!".

I just recently started exercising again especially now that we have sprung an hour ahead and have more daylight in the evenings.  But not every evening is the same.  For us busy mothers it is extremely difficult to get in any sort of exercise.  Either we are caught up doing something at work, have to go to the grocery store, or some child has an after school activity, etc.  But we should kinda, sorta exercise, eh? That was a trick question! Yes, we should :).

That's me on the Sidney Poiter Bridge (yes, I had time to snatch a pic while exercising, don't act like you don't do it too!)

So I stumbled on this routine (bottom left picture) that you can do right in your bedroom and requires no equipment.  It's a start! FITNESS AT HOME.  I challenge you for the next month, at least 3 times out of the week you complete this routine.  I would love to hear some feedback on your results!

Summer is coming soon you know, and your kids WILL be asking you to take them to the beach :)

What do you like to do for exercise?  And what other suggestions do you have?

Working Women Need Wine and Mothers Need Merlot!

It has always been my belief that every woman needs to drink one glass of wine every night. Why? Why not? Just like our husbands who have been to work all day, we need something to take the edge off, to unwind, to download. We would be happier wives to come home to. I guarantee I am a much better mother when my panties aren't all in a bunch.

My husband Eric and I went to Bristol this past weekend. They had a sale. We purchased a bottle of Hob Knob Wine.....not bad! So if you see a bottle of this anywhere purchase it.

If you are reading this and thinking you are above drinking wine every night then so be it, stay stressed, irritable and the type of woman your husband doesn't want to come home to. But if you want to be a woman who laughs with her kids and yes her husband to......have a glass of wine!

Top 5 Moments of My Day

Here are the top five moments of Monday 4th March, 2013 for Tiffany Hall.

5. Looking at my reflection in the mirror.
I am looking good! No vodka during the week is seriously working!
4. Having a telephone conversationwith a girlfriend at 4:15pm in the afternoon.
I was behind closed doors with no children in sight!
3. Ending my shower with my new best product ever, Oil Of Olay Shower Body Lotion
After bathing, you rub this creamy solution all over then rinse. No lotion needed!

2. Hearing Channing laugh and Chase fart!
Children bring life to a home......okay most of the time it sounds like noise.
1. Picking up my husband from work.
This brings me such joy when we are back together. All is right in the world.

It is the simple things in life that bring us joy. What are your top five moments for today? What can you be thankful for?

Until I write again,
Tiffany

Friday Night!

It’s Friday night!

What are you doing?
As a working woman there are always plans to be made and plans to keep.
As a married woman tonight may be date night or it may be “ME” time.
But as a mother, a Friday night for me has meant it is another night. It is another night to put the kids to bed and surrender to my fatigue.

What are you doing tonight?

Whatever you do enjoy the moment.
Enjoy a night out on the town with girlfriends. Enjoy a glass of wine at a quiet bistro alone while reading a novel on your Kindle. Enjoy a night out with your husband; laugh, flirt and reignite the attraction. Enjoy a night at home after the kids are in bed by taking a long bath and putting on a pair of comfy pajamas as you watch the Scandal Episode you missed last night.
Whatever you do enjoy your role as woman, wife and mother!

It’s Friday night!
What are you doing tonight?
Signed,
Tiffany
