10 Reasons to STOP wearing a Bra

Yesterday, as I was walking out of my front door, I had a feeling of free-ness. I felt my body and realized, Ah, I wasn't wearing a bra. Hmmmm, how did that happen? I usually put on my under garments before anything else. How did I manage to NOT put on a bra?! Perhaps it was due to my subconscious thoughts of damning all bras to hell.

Braless Diana

Mind you, I am a woman very much caught up in the bra world. I need it. It's a comfort for me. Or I think I need it. It helps to make these boobies look like "sense". I mean, I have two children, whom I breastfed. I'm in my mid-thirties, and naturally breasts won't be as firm, supple and sticky, right? I don't have breasts like a teenager anymore, so I need something to MAKE them look that way again, right?

I suppose the role of the bra as always been for aesthetics and possibly as well as the "need" for breasts to be covered up. Even UNDER all of your clothing? Weird.

We aren't comfortable enough for loose boobies. Or maybe we are getting there, as somehow I managed to forget to put a bra on the other day. Now, I don't have big boobies and it may be the reason why I am able to give up wearing a bra a bit more readily than others. (But please remember, small don't mean a thing!) Some women need them for the support for much bigger boobies because without them they feel too heavy. Whatever the reasons are,

Here is my list of 10 reasons why we should just give up wearing a bra...

10. No more variety of bra sizes to choose from in your drawer.  If you're anything like me, I have different size cups and back sizes. From 32B to 34D. I didn't always have small boobies, ya know! :)

 9. #10 leads to SAVING MONEY! Who doesn't like saving money, though?

 8. It makes it easier to BREASTFEED! If you are breastfeeding, kudos to you. It's not easy. So why not make things simpler when you can. Nix the bra and always be ready and available to feed!

 7. Better breathing! You know sometimes the bra is too tight, hey.

 6. Prevents dents and marks. Tight bras or the wrong size bras lead to dents in the shoulders and marks about the body. Don't abuse yourself that way.

 5. We've done away with the corset, so why not the Bra too?! Corsets were sexy but how beneficial were they and to whom?

 4. You know that feeling you get when you take off your bra when you arrive home?  Yeah that, ALL THE TIME! Enough said.

 3. It really doesn't help to improve the lift of your breasts. If you think the bra is helping to lift your breasts so that they don't sag, (and is why you secretly sleep with one on as well) you are sadly mistaken. It actually trains your muscles to depend on something else to support them and so the muscles go on a long ass vacation.

 2. It allows us to learn to love and accept our bodies as they are. To be able to be confident in your body and all it's natural beauty should always be the goal.

 1. Because it is hella SEXY! How incredibly sexy did I feel yesterday without it?! Very! A liberating feeling and probably because I gave zero fucks.

I don't say all of this to say that it won't be difficult. It's hard even for me to do. But I'm working at it. Yesterday, as I exited the house I hesitated for a few minutes trying to decide if I should go back in the house for a bra. My husband then looks at me and says, "your level of confidence or lack thereof is directly related to other people." I knew the words coming out of his mouth all too well but hearing it at that moment struck a cord.

He was right. Most times our confidence is based on what other people will think or say (especially behind our backs). Walking around without a bra when you don't want to is to please others, not you. But here's the kicker, what we think other people are thinking may not even be what they are in fact thinking!

So I say, if you want to go sans bra, DO IT! If the "others" have a problem with it, tell them to close their eyes! LOL

**Disclaimer** I still encourage sports bras for exercise because boobies bouncing up and down can hurt and is just downright annoying!

Are you offended by this photo? Do you see anything wrong with this pic? Could anyone snap a similar photo of you?

Let's look at it. This is a photo of Jennifer Anniston. She appears to be on her way to Starbucks for a Caramel Macchiato. Maybe it's the weekend, a day to exhale. (Insert exhale sound here)

Okay, okay, okay! Fine! Anniston is not wearing a bra.

Let me tell you a quick story.

For those of you who do not know and those of you who do I, forty-two year old Tiffany Yvette, I run 4.3 miles every Sunday morning with THE (Say the word THE like the football players who introduce themselves at the beginning of a televised game to announce their alma mater, i.e., THE Ohio State) I digress sorry, it's been a long day. Let me continue, I Tiffany Yvette, I run 4.3 miles every Sunday Morning with THE MWM Running Group. In order to consistently show up and do what I do, which is run as slow as a tortoise, hey slow and steady wins the race, I prepare the night before. How you may wonder? My routine is simple. I sleep in my running clothes. Yes ma'am I do. Every last item including my socks because I sleep in socks every night. (Let me be me!) This proactivity allows me to show up!

With this being said Saturday night I put on my bra topsssssssssssssssssssssss!
Why all the s's Tiffany? Because folks the girls are double d's. They are healthy dense girls that spread the love even under my arm.... what is that? Why do they have to grow from under there????? Help me to understand?

Anywho, I wear a bra and two sport bra tops. I confess I need a proper Sports Bra but I live in The Bahamas. Our local stores do not sell a variety of bras but yet have the nerve to charge a breast implant price for the slim stock they carry. Sweetness, if I am going to pay for a sports bra I want a good quality. And so-whoa, I go with what I've got!

Moral of the story, I slept with three bleepity- bleep bra tops Saturday night. My body was not happy when I took them off Sunday morning at 9:00am. I'm talking grooves on my skin, pain ladies and gentlemen because men I know you are reading too. I was in so much pain when I put on my bra for church at 9:45am my skin felt chafe. (Chafe means raw, bruised an overall get off of me kind of feeling)!

So peeps, I came home from church and the bra came off. Off I say!

Can I just say I was in the best mood ever...well not really but I was relaxed. I let the girls breathe! Hallelujah!!!!

I confess I do not do this often. My grandmother told me I should sleep in a bra to keep them perky. Gravity is a serious thing. And so on this day I disobeyed my grandmother and they hung and boy can they hang....hang with the best of them, I'm talking hanging on the blocks under a tree with a cold one...beverage that is!

This leads me back to Jennifer Anniston and all of you who can go to Starbucks like she did. Sigh.... I can't. Not because I care what people say because TRUST and BELIEVE I don't. I am so hot you have to call the fireman and the police... I am just that hot. (Insert Bruno Mars Uptown Funk song here).  I don't because I don't think my DD's can pull Anniston's look off! My girls are too big!

Now if I can get them lifted like this photo below, I'd grab me a tank top like Anniston, throw it on my frame and I'd be everywhere on the weekend. You don't like my nips poking out, blink and turn away! BLINK AND TURN AWAY!

Why do we wear bras anyway? I briefly searched on the world wide webs for an answer but nothing. No information which explained the day someone said cover and pull those things up. Was it a man? Doubtful! It was a judgemental, jealous woman that caused all of this I am sure. Men. Puhlease!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I do know is women well most of us don't like bras. We wear them out but as soon as we can we take them off!

I remember seeing my mother doing this trick...I really thought it was a trick!
Ladies my point is only this. I am so over wearing bras! I decided I hate them. I have three new outfits in my closet right now which I haven't worn because I couldn't figure out how I would contain my breasts. Forget it! I'm done! I will be wearing those outfits braless! As I typed earlier, if you see me whenever I wear one of them, Blink and Turn Away!

Do they bury women in bras? Seriously? Please let my girls go in peace..... sorry I digress.

If you love wearing bras awesome but I implore you to give our girls freedom. If you get home one evening feeling irritated with the kids, your husband or the state of your home, check your body.... you may need to take off your bra to exhale!

Candi, my MWM Co-founder, shared how she forgot to put on a bra and went to the grocery store. She got mixed reviews but she didn't care. This link below describes what you may experience if you forget!

As for me, I am 42 years old and the day is growing nigh,
It will be a day when I won't be shy.
I will go braless
And be fearless!!!!!!!!!!

Until I go braless again,
Tiffany

I LIKE MY BRA THE WAY IT IS, UNBURNED!

It's Monday, I'm at work...

and I'm in a funk....

Why you ask?  Read the first line again...LOL

Long gone are the days of very clear cut roles of men and women, more specifically husbands/wives and fathers/mothers.  The lines have become so blurred we really can't say if a task should fall under the role of the husband/wife or father/mother.

Society is so far removed from the times when we had clear "boundaries" that matters between men and women become difficult.

Once again, Tiffany and I would love to thank all the women who burned their bras for Woman's Rights...blank stare...we really showed the men how independent we could be! But for real, it's time to stop. LOL. This "going to work" is for the birds!

Let me be a stay-at-home mother any day, with a housekeeper AND babysitter of course. LOL...I'm just joking...I'm just serious.

Look, have you ever been frustrated when your hubby always has something going on?  They always seem to have this meeting, that meeting, toastmasters, football practice, "oh a friend needs help with this" or "oh, I have to go take care of that".  The thing is YOU have the same kind of things going on too but the difference is, your stuff is ON TOP of managing the children and their activities!

Do men still feel they ought to just be the providers and that's it?  Can we accept this mentality in today's society? Nope. We cannot.

Not in a society where women have become financial contributors to the home, no?

How involved do you think husbands/fathers should be in the day-to-day operations of the home? How committed should women be to their jobs/careers? Or does this depend on the dynamics of the family?

Do you think men could handle a full day of work, running errands and other activities while managing the kids all by themselves AND be okay with that? What about multiple days?! Or indefinitely?!  Keep in mind, they are not stay-at-home dads!  My guess is, no! So here lies the problem.  We end up doing pretty much everything. LOL.

I know there are husbands out there that do just as much or, in a few rare cases, more than the wife. I know a few scenarios like the latter. A few. **Side Thought**It's funny though - people are more inclined to give praise to men for taking on the role of caretaker/homemaker while his wife who is the breadwinner and taking care of their family financially will not receive that same kind of praise. Hmmmm...that's deep.  Is it because it's not the "natural way"?

So ladies, it seems as though burning our bras for equality may have caused us a little more work and a lot more headache!  On top of what we already were, Wives and Mothers, we've added Work. YAY!  Though I feel it is important and necessary for us to have the choice to work, it really isn't a choice anymore, but a necessity.

So here we are Married, Mothers and Working!

What are the roles in your home? Is there total integration?  Or do you have a clear division?

Husbands, I know you're reading....we would love for you to chime in on this discussion.  And of course Married WORKING Mothers feel free to express yourselves, bras were burnt so you could! LOL

HAPPY MONDAY! :)
